About the Business Division

The Tech and Managed Services team sits within the Integrated Marketing Group of Market SMS. The group leads the way in customer management (both digital and offline) by helping clients acquire, develop and retain customers through effective customer strategy planning, optimising marketing campaigns and customer insight. Our work is underpinned by high quality consumer and market data and leading technology. Our core business activities are detailed below:

About the Role

Market SMS’s Tech and Managed Services are excited to bring on a new Development and Support Engineer to support the team. We manage several marketing systems for major organisations, the solutions are becoming increasingly complex as we support client’s marketing activity in all key channels, particularly digital. We have deep expertise in areas such as identity management, database build and management, campaign management, email marketing and systems integration.

The role will be to support and develop marketing database applications and software within the overall solutions that we build for our clients. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to work in a fast-moving, client focused environment, where we build solutions using well-established technologies, but where there is also scope to investigate and work with emerging tools (e.g. Big Data technologies and tools like python and Snowflake) to support our client’s evolving requirements.

Key Requirements

The role encompasses performing the following tasks:

  • Ensuring that client facing systems are available during normal business hours
  • Ensuring that data updates are received and correctly applied to the relevant databases according to service levels
  • Managing and co-ordinating data supply issues with the client/data supplier
  • Investigating and responding to/or resolving client issues
  • Discussing and analysing new client requirements
  • Designing, coding, testing and release control of software enhancement requests
  • Training will be provided through a combination of on the job training from experienced team members and external training courses.

About You

  • A good degree in a relevant discipline
  • Data architecture and Data Design skills and experience
  • Experience and knowledge loading from disparate data sets by leveraging various modern technologies
  • Aptitude for logical thinking
  • Drive and enthusiasm
  • Ability to be a good team player
  • Strong Communication skills
  • Willingness to work on client site when required
  • Proficient with MS Office tools i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
  • Databases and SQL
  • Data analysis and design
  • UNIX shell scripting
  • One or more programming languages

Nice to haves

  • Programming skills in Java
  • Programming skills in Javascript
  • Marketing Automation Tools (e.g. Adobe Campaign, IBM Campaign, PeopleStage).
  • Knowledge and experience with Big Data and development tools (e.g. python).
  • Experience with ETL (e.g. Informatica, Talend, Pentaho, Ab Initio or others)
